Old Fort Harrod State Park

Old Fort Harrod State Park Old Fort Harrod State Park is one of Kentucky's 44 State Parks. We commemorate the First Permanent Anglo-American settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains.

The town was founded by James Harrod on June 16th, 1774 and a fort built the following year.

Due to the rain, I remained in the office but had the pleasure of hearing My Old Ky Home and Amazing Grace being performed at the Native Dawn Flute Festival. Regardless of the weather, I highly recommend attending and listening.

Unfortunately, the James Harrod the Battle for Kentucky has been cancelled for July 2026. We are optimistic that it will return better than ever in 2027. On the bright side the amphitheater may be getting new lighting
