⚡ When thunder roars, go indoors!

If you see lightning or hear thunder, seek shelter immediately in a fully enclosed building or vehicle. Stay there for 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning before returning outdoors. If thunder is heard again, restart the 30-minute countdown.

This applies whether you are:

Swimming
Boating
Playing sports
Hiking
Fishing
Working outside
Attending outdoor events
At a playground or park

⚠️ Bats can carry rabies, which is why it is extremely important to never touch or handle a bat—even if it appears sick, injured, or unable to fly.

✅ Keep your distance

✅ Contact Environmental Health if a bat is found inside your home or if exposure is suspected

Operating a boat while impaired by alcohol or drugs can slow reaction time, affect judgment, and increase the risk of crashes, falls overboard, and drowning.
