Equity involves meeting people where they are and connecting with unique communities.

At a recent session in the New London Recreation Center, the Council engaged directly with residents and organizations, including Representative Anthony Nolan, Representative Derell Wilson, Representative Aundre Bumgardner, Representative Larry Pemberton, and Representative Dan Gaiewski, along with Charter Alliance, Rose City Learning, New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Alliance for Living, Haitian Community Center of Greater Norwich, and more to share updates, provide guidance, and answer questions about programs and opportunities supporting local impact.

As we move forward with our three-year reinvestment strategy, Revitalize & Reimagine (R2), we remain focused on turning reinvestment into measurable outcomes for communities across Connecticut

Reinvestment is most effective when communities have both access and information.

At a recent session in the Boys and Girls Club of New Britain, the Council engaged directly with residents and organizations, including Mayor Bobby Sanchez, Representative Manny Sanchez, Representative Iris Sanchez, The New Britain YMCA, Neighborhood Housing Greater New Britain, ReadyCT, Pathways New Britain and more to share updates, provide guidance, and answer questions about programs and opportunities supporting local impact.

Today is 4/20 — a date that is part of cannabis history, reaching back as far as college campuses in California in the 70s.

Now, 4/20 is a day that we take to recognize the evolving cannabis story and its impact on social equity here in Connecticut.

We invite those not familiar with our State’s thoughtful legislation and plans for long-term impact to take this day to read The Social Equity Council’s Annual Report or watch an overview video from our Annual Meeting to fully understand our common goals and vision for the future. You can find both files on the landing page of our website: https://loom.ly/SVyWNf0

In recognition of this day, I also invite you to join me and other community partners in service on The Council and our committees. And, as always, please make responsible choices, be safe, and be considerate of others on 4/20 and always. — Brandon McGee, Chief Executive Officer, Social Equity Council.

Thank you to all who attended (both in-person and online) our 2025 CT Social Equity Council • Working Group: Market Outlook Wrap-Up at the Legislative Office Building earlier this week.

We are grateful to our subcommittee chairs, council board members, social equity entrepreneurs and legislative partners for their time, insight, and commitment.

Your collaboration continues to move the work of the Council forward in meaningful ways.

We will continue to host productive discussions, achieve careful alignment, and establish clear next steps as we advance equity-focused policy across Connecticut.
