Uniformed Services Identification (USID) Card

for Retirees, Spouses and Dependents:

Military retirees are required to update their Uniformed Services Identification (USID) cards to the new Next Generation USID card by December 31, 2025. The paper-based USID cards with indefinite expiration dates will no longer be accepted after this date. The new cards are more secure and durable, incorporating features like plastic cardstock and enhanced security measures.

It's important for military retirees/dependents/surviving spouses to know these old forms of ID will not be valid to access a military installation, and you will need issuance of the NextGen ID card. This will be true even if your old ID card has an INDEF expiration date on it - the ID will still be invalid. The deadline is 31 December 2025.

Please join me in saying farewell to SFC Rachael Murphy, who served as the Retirement Services Officer from October 15, 2021, to May 31, 2025. During her tenure, she consistently ensured a smooth and efficient process for submitting Soldiers’ retirement pay packets. The Retirement Services Program would not be where it is today without her unwavering commitment to putting Soldiers, retirees, and the mission first. Her dedication and professionalism have left a lasting impact, and she will be truly missed.

SFC Murphy will attend her final Retirement Breakfast tomorrow, marking the close of an impactful chapter in her career.

Beginning June 1, 2025, SFC Christopher McAllister will step into the role of Retirement Services Officer. He is committed to continuing SFC Murphy’s effective processes to ensure all needs are met with the same level of care, efficiency, and excellence.
