I joined Mike Hydeck on NBC Connecticut’s Face the Facts to discuss children’s online safety, the Meta settlement, and the work we’re doing here in Connecticut.

As a ranking member of the General Law Committee, I was proud to help pass S.B. 5, Connecticut’s Online Safety Act, because parents deserve stronger protections as new technology becomes part of our children’s everyday lives.

Also as a member of NCSL’s Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, I’ve been working with lawmakers from across the country on these emerging issues, and we’re seeing other states look to Connecticut’s approach as they develop their own policies.

With Connecticut set to receive up to $265.4 million from the Meta settlement, we also discussed how those resources can be used responsibly to address the impact social media has had on young people and strengthen protections moving forward.

There’s more work to do and I’ll continue advocating for policies that protect our kids, empower parents, and keep pace with rapidly changing technology.

We lost a true legend.

Bob Parisi dedicated his life to serving others. From his service to our country in the military to the many years he spent giving back to his community, Bob always put others first.

To so many, Bob was a leader, a mentor, and a friend. I was fortunate to know him as all three. He was someone I could turn to for advice, someone who always took the time to listen, and someone who genuinely cared about the people around him.

I’ll always be grateful for the conversations we shared and the guidance he gave me over the years. His legacy and impact can be seen throughout our community and more importantly, in the countless people whose lives he touched along the way.

My thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Bob. Thank you for your friendship, your guidance, and a lifetime of service. You will truly be missed.

Good news for students, families, and educators in East Haven and Wallingford! 🍎📚

I was proud to support Public Act 25-93, which established the Special Education Incentive Grant Program to help school districts strengthen special education services within their own communities and better address the rising costs associated with providing those services.

Through the first round of funding, East Haven is receiving $303,300 for programming and capital improvements, and Wallingford is receiving $71,050 for special education programming.

Not every school district was eligible for funding through this program, as applicants must meet specific program criteria. These competitive grants are separate from the state’s general education funding provided.

It’s a step in the right direction, but there is still more work to do to ensure our educators have the tools and resources they need to support every student. I will continue advocating for education funding that supports our students while providing relief to our communities.

Today, I joined state and local leaders in North Branford to celebrate the preservation of 37 acres of open space and a $385,450 state investment that will help make this land available for public recreation.

Protecting open space means preserving the character of our communities, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring future generations have places to get outside and enjoy all that Connecticut has to offer.

Thank you to everyone who worked to make this preservation possible, especially the dedicated volunteers who have given their time and energy. Their commitment is what makes projects like this possible.

I’m proud to support investments that bring funding back to the 34th District and protect the places that make our communities special. 🌳

Today, on National Nonprofit Day, I want to recognize the incredible organizations, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners across Connecticut and the 34th district who dedicate their time to helping others and strengthening our communities.

Whether supporting families and veterans, mentoring our youth, providing essential services, or simply helping a neighbor through a difficult time, the work these organizations do touch countless lives.

Today and every day, thank you to everyone who gives their time, talents, and hearts in service to others. Our communities are stronger because of you.

Nothing says summer quite like Ice Cream Friday at Camp Ulbrich! 🍦☀️

I had a great time stopping by the Wallingford Family YMCA yesterday to enjoy one of the sweetest traditions of the summer.

Thank you to everyone at the YMCA and Camp Ulbrich who work hard to give our kids a safe, fun, and memorable summer experience. It’s always great to see our community coming together and having a little fun along the way!

It was great to join local leaders and community members this morning to celebrate the grand opening of the new 7-ELEVEn on Washington Avenue in North Haven!

Congratulations to franchisee Mahesh Pirthiani, Market Manager Omar Yassin, and the entire 7-Eleven team on this new investment in our community.

I was especially glad to see today’s celebration include a $711 grant supporting the Boys and Girls Club New Haven and Green Acres Elementary. Supporting our local businesses and investing in the next generation are both important parts of building strong communities.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today possible, and welcome to North Haven!

I’m pleased to see $52.9 million in relief heading to Connecticut farmers who suffered devastating weather-related losses in 2023 and 2024.

This is an issue Senate Republicans and I have consistently advocated for. Earlier this year, we invited farmers from across the state to the Capitol for a Farmers Forum to push back against proposals that would have placed even greater financial burdens on family farms through higher taxes and additional regulations.

We heard firsthand from farmers in my district, including William Dellacamera of Cecarelli’s Harrison Hill Farm and Eric Henry of Blue Hills Orchard, about the challenges they face every day.

Today’s relief is an important step, but our work doesn’t stop here. Connecticut’s farmers deserve policies that allow them to grow, invest, and succeed not more mandates or higher costs.

Our farmers have always been there for Connecticut and I’ll continue standing with them every step of the way.
