April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and, Animal Cruelty Awareness Month. In recognition of these two important issues, state leaders gathered to talk about the Link between child abuse and animal abuse, and what protocols are in place to address these important issues.

There has been so much effort to enforce and educate our community about the Cross Reporting Law, with two state agencies (DCF & the Dept. Of Agriculture) working in collaboration to ensure that children & animals are safe and healthy.

Thank you to Diane Rosell for spearheading Paws for Kids and bringing this issue to the forefront of our work.

Happy Animal Control Officer Day! On behalf of the Department of Children and Families, we celebrate the work that our ACOs do every day and, we value the collaboration between our staff and the Department of Agriculture.

Together we work to address child abuse and animal cruelty cases so that both children and animals are safe.
