Today DMHAS Commissioner Navarretta joined state and local leaders, frontline practitioners, and people with lived experience to publicly honor International Overdose Awareness Day.

This offered a time to pause to remember the lives lost to overdose, stand with the families and communities who continue to carry that loss, and to reaffirm our commitment to saving lives.

We will keep fighting until everyone has the care and resources they need for recovery.

Today on International Overdose Awareness Day we stand with the families and communities who have lost loved ones to overdose. DMHAS will continue to make investments in programs focused on prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction until no family has to feel this pain.

By remembering those we have lost, we remind one another that their lives mattered. We also send a message to those who are struggling: You are not alone. Help is available. Recovery is possible. And there is no shame in asking for help.

Visit LiveLOUD to find support and treatment options and access resources to help prevent overdose.
