A summer day well spent! ☀️🌿There’s nothing better than seeing our Bigs and Littles laughing, exploring, and enjoying the outdoors together!

At our summer picnic at Winding Trails Farmington Ct, our matches had the chance to try new activities, connect, and make memories, from nature walks and zip lines to yard games, hands-on creative activities, a The Home Depot building station, and a fun photo booth!

A big thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the day with us💚

Last week, we joined Rob Dibble Show for an important conversation about what many young people in our community are navigating, both at school and in everyday life, and how one caring, consistent mentor can make a lasting difference.

Our Chief Programs & Operations Officer, Ryan Matthews, and Big Brother Joe DeLutrie shared why mentorship matters, with Joe reflecting on the incredible journey of watching his Little Brother, Ocean, grow in confidence, build new skills, and thrive over the years. ➡️ Listen to the full interview here: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/422-rob-dibble-show-28098705/episode/ryan-matthews-joe-delutrie-big-bros-big-sisters-of-ct-338587876

Some things you can build with your hands. Others, hope, connection, community, you build together💚

Thank you, Levo International, for letting us be part of what you do. Their simplified hydroponic farming empowers communities to fight poverty and food insecurity, and we were proud to help it grow!

The people who believed in Alex Beck when he was young helped shape the future he believed was possible. Years later, he became a Big Brother so that another young person could receive the same support, encouragement, and belief in their potential.

➡️Watch Big Brother Alex Beck and Little Brother Mekhi share what they’ve learned from each other throughout their 13-year mentoring relationship 💚

Nothing makes us prouder than seeing our Littles achieve the goals they set for themselves! ⭐️ Recently, Little Sister Benjalie was crowned Miss Puerto Rico of Greater New Haven, and her Big Sister, Veronica, has been a consistent support who now shares in her success with so much pride.

Our staff matched Benjalie with Big Sister Veronica Ciccarone through our Community-Based Program in 2021, and Veronica has loved watching her blossom ever since: "She's become open to new experiences and new people, and she continues to shine as someone who is bright, articulate, and a gifted writer. It has been beautiful to watch her grow into the young woman she is today."Congratulations, Benjalie!👏💚

Since 2024, Big Sister Lauren Knapp has shown up with care and commitment for her Little Brother Zayn through our Site-Based program at Stanton School in Norwich, a dedication that earned her the 2026 Vicki Soto Memorial Award.

We had the honor of sharing their story on NBC CT Live with anchor Abbey Carnivale, showing how mentoring can create consistent, caring connections that help students feel seen, supported, and encouraged right at their school. Last Thursday, we gathered at The Estate in New Haven for our inaugural Great Wines, Greater Futures event, raising over $70,000 to support youth mentoring in Connecticut. Our guests enjoyed an exceptional wine tasting experience guided by world-renowned sommelier Kevin Zraly, and the heart of our mission came alive when Big Brother Alex Beck and Little Brother Mekhi McCorter took the stage to share their 13-year mentoring journey and the profound impact it has had on both of their lives.

“Kids are people too, and everybody deserves a voice,” said Little Brother Mekhi McCorter. “Meeting Alex changed the way I saw myself and my future. He helped me stop doubting myself and start believing I could become whoever I wanted to be.”

Our mentors from Cigna are showing up for kids at Annie Fisher School by helping with homework, doing art projects, playing games, and, most importantly, being the steady, encouraging presence every young person deserves. We shared that story with Renee Dinino on Great Day Connecticut, and we're very proud of every mentor who makes it happen.
