Monarchs are in the area and laying eggs. June 6th, the Kellogg Environmental Center is hosting a program to explain how you can take part in research and conservation of this flagship butterfly.
Registration is requested and is not well suited for very young children. Part of the program is inside, then out to the meadow in search of eggs, larvae, and adults. Call 203-734-2513 for details and if you have questions.

National Horseshoe Crab Day is June 20th. Join Danielle from the Kellogg Environmental Center and Jo-Marie Kasinak, Project Limulus Beach Coordinator, as they help participants understand the wonders of Horseshoe Crabs at Silver Sands State Park. The walk and talk, takes place on the beach, so please dress appropriately and have shoes for the sand, hats, and a bottle of water too. Families are welcome. You may register or just walk up to take part.

We've got another free No Child Left Inside® Families in the Parks program scheduled for this weekend! Join us at Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury, CT on Saturday, May 16 from 10am-2pm for a day of activities, including hiking, games, nature center activities, story time and partner organizations. Check in at the registration tent to pick up a scavenger hunt and discover all the activities taking place. Connecticut Fish and Wildlife Simsbury Public Library

⚠️Day Pond State Park in Colchester will be closed for two days due to a paving project taking place. No vehicular access into the park will be permitted during the project between the hours of 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

World Turtle Day is an annual event that focuses attention on these favorite reptiles across the globe. Visit the Kellogg Estate to learn about local turtles and wildlife conservation methods to help.

Presentations and activities begin at 10:00 am at 500 Hawthorne Ave. Derby, CT. We will continue till 2:00 pm with crafts, displays, and challenges.
