I joined Comptroller Sean Scanlon, the DMHAS Commissioner Nancy Navaretta, and other advocates to observe International Overdose Awareness day.

Today, we remember every life taken by the opioid epidemic and recognize the toll this crisis continues to take on our communities. We also stand with those who are battling addiction and the loved ones, advocates, and providers who work tirelessly to make sure they have the support they need to recover.

Connecticut has fought to hold the companies that fueled this crisis accountable, helping secure more than $50 billion nationwide, including $600 million for Connecticut, for treatment, prevention, and recovery services.

No amount of money will bring back the lives that were lost, but we will continue fighting to keep other families from suffering that same loss.

Today, we secured a court order blocking a terrible new USPS rule from taking effect.
Donald Trump cannot unlawfully commandeer elections and try to disenfranchise voters just weeks before the November elections. This last minute attempt to use the USPS to manipulate and micromanage how we vote would have caused chaos and confusion, and the court was right to stop it.

We will continue fighting to protect voters and our democracy.

Connecticut health centers rely on $2.3 million Title X funds each year to give people access to contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, pregnancy testing, and counseling.

Donald Trump is trying to strip the funding, unless states meet a variety of unlawful conditions.

Trump wants doctors and clinics to pass a MAGA purity test before they can treat patients and save lives. This is another ridiculous, awful and unnecessary move by this President to make us sicker, poorer, and we’re suing to stop it.

Once again, Donald Trump is breaking the law to try to micromanage who gets to vote, and how we cast our ballots. This time, he's ordering the United States Postal Service to do his dirty work.

We sued to block the initial executive order, and now we're suing again to block USPS from carrying out this illegal directive. The Constitution plainly forbids the President from commandeering elections to manipulate and micromanage how we vote, and we are aggressively pursuing our litigation on multiple fronts to protect our democracy.

We're appealing a court decision that declined to impose civil penalties against Indie Guns, an illegal ghost gun dealer, that shipped unserialized fi****ms into Connecticut.

Ghost guns are an untraceable menace that exist for one reason—to evade law enforcement and registration.
They are a threat to public safety and they are illegal in Connecticut. There is no question that Indie Guns marketed, sold and shipped illegal ghost guns into Connecticut, and that they knew what they were doing was wrong. We are confident in the law, and confident in our case, and we are going to
aggressively pursue maximum penalties on appeal.

We announced a landmark $17.1 billion settlement with Meta that also includes sweeping new protections for kids online.

Meta strip-mined the souls of America’s children for maximum profit with abusive and additive features that unleashed a youth mental health catastrophe. That ends now.

This is the largest settlement in American history with a single defendant, reflecting the magnitude of Meta’s misconduct and the unprecedented wealth they amassed from it.

But this has never been about the money. This settlement charts a new course for online safety, including age verification measures, critical caps on time online, parental options to turn off algorithmic feeds and auto play functions, and content moderation.

To TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat-our expectations are clear. You’re next.

Enough is enough. Connecticut families cannot afford to pay even more for healthcare.

ConnectiCare and Anthem are seeking average increases of 22.7% and 12.8% for individual plans. For small group plans, Anthem is seeking 17.4% and UnitedHealthcare 18.9%.

These increases are unconscionable.
I’m urging the Connecticut Insurance Department to reject these requests.

Connecticut residents can make their voices heard at an information session beginning at 9 am on Wednesday, August 26 at the Legislative Office Building.

Today, we put an end to an illegal agreement between Zillow and Redfin that prevented them from competing. Last year, Zillow paid Redfin $100 million to shut down its multi family rental advertising business and stay out of the market for up to 9 years.

This unfair and anticompetitive agreement between two listing giants would have jacked up costs for property managers, and renters would have been the ones to pay the ultimate price. We sued, and today's settlement forces a return to fair competition and choice.

We will continue to use every inch of our joint state and federal law enforcement authority to drive down housing costs.
