On a recent Thursday night, our guests were treated to a special culinary experience when Attorney Garlinck Dumont from dumontlawllc and some of her staff and family came in to cook a Haitian dinner. The dinner included chicken, rice, mac & cheese, and salad. Together, they generously purchased all the ingredients, prepared, and served the meal. Thank you for this memorable evening at HOB!

At House of Bread, we seek opportunities to collaborate with community partners so that we may further meet the needs of the people who come to us for help. Today, we did just that with the assistance of an amazing group from Hartford Hospital. In partnership with the Department of Medicine, we were excited to host “Breakfast, A Movie, and More” welcoming the families at our education center to come in, have some breakfast (and watch a movie!), and learn more about the services available to them through Hartford Hospital. The informal nature of the session allowed for more meaningful engagement with both the parents and their children. We are so grateful to Dr. Dutta, Wanita, Kelly, Dorely, and Phillip for spending their morning educating and connecting with our community.

More than 200 bagged lunches in just 1 ½ hours – wow! Many thanks to the hard-working and efficient team from Nassau Financial Group’s Enterprise Risk Management group, who packed brown bags with fruit, cookies, and sandwiches thoughtfully made with nut-free WOWBUTTER.com and strawberry jam. Team leader Monica Bassette cheerfully delivered the mountain of lunches – and even let us keep the huge recyclable bags they came in. It’s clear that “Nassau Cares.” Thank you again!

We were humbled and grateful to receive this generous grant from the The Lillian Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation, the extraordinary giving circle at the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford that supports expanded opportunities for women and children. We promise to put every single dollar to very good use at our Education Center’s “Learning Together” program, where immigrant mothers and their children improve their English language skills, literacy, and socialization. Congratulations as well to our fellow grantee, Shiloh Israel Children's Fund, for their inspirational work providing trauma therapy to Israeli children suffering from the war’s psychological impact.
