We just received a scammer call here at City Hall. The call was transferred to the Police Department and the caller did not hear that the phone was answered as "Hartford Police Department". The caller went on to state he was from WE Energies and we did not respond to the three notices they sent. Clue #1 - foreign accent. Clue #2 - wouldn't allow me to ask questions. Clue #3- when asked if gas or electric service, his response was 'lights'. No one working for WE Energies would respond this way. WE Energies WILL NOT call you. Anyone living in the City of Hartford or the Village of Slinger WILL NOT be contacted by phone for unpaid utility bills, and certainly not from WE Energies for electric as it's serviced by City of Hartford Utility. Stay vigilant!
