Cyber threats continue to evolve, and our response must keep pace. Last month, the Connecticut National Guard hosted the 5th annual Cyber Nutmeg at Central Connecticut State University. In partnership with the Connecticut Education Network (CEN), the event brought together military, academic, government, and private sector partners to enhance our state's cyber defense posture.
Keynote speakers included Maj. Gen. Francis Evon, Col. Cameron Sprague, and Maj. Joel Fulsang, each of whom offered strategic insights into the evolving threat landscape and the importance of strengthening cyber readiness across all levels of government and infrastructure.
Participants included municipal leaders, education officials, business stakeholders, and IT and cybersecurity professionals. They took part in a National Guard-led tabletop exercise, received briefings from federal and state agencies, and attended targeted training sessions focused on the most pressing cybersecurity risks facing Connecticut today. The event also featured networking opportunities and sponsor exhibits, reinforcing the importance of collaboration across sectors.
Cyber Nutmeg reflects our shared commitment to protecting data, defending critical infrastructure, and preparing our workforce for the challenges of the digital domain. The Connecticut National Guard remains at the forefront of these efforts, working directly with communities to ensure a secure and resilient future for our state.
