Exploring the diverse experiences of students from the earliest days of Trinity College (then Washington College) through the 1970s, this exhibit presents texts, documents, objects, and memorabilia from the Trinity College Archives. The exhibit will be on view in the Long Walk entrance (near Peter B’s) and the Engelhard Reading Room of the Raether Library until end of spring 2028.

Happy belated birthday to Odell Shepard, who served as Trinity College's James J. Goodwin Professor of English from 1917 until his resignation in 1946. The Odell Shepard Papers are available to view at the Watkinson Library, which is open to the public Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 4 PM. Yet More Fragmentology: Identifying this fragment was a bit tricky but I was finally able to locate the text from which it comes. This is leaf 64r in the German version of the Aurea Biblia (Die güldene Bibel) printed by Ludwig Hohenwang in Augsburg ca. 1477. We have this book in our collection but what makes this fragment so exceptional is that it is a proof sheet (nothing is printed on the reverse side of the leaf). That makes this an interesting and very rare survival from the first period of European printing.

But it is even *more* interesting than that as this leaf was pasted together with the leaves of Capellanus's Art of Courtly Love (Augsburg: Anton Sorg, 1484) and once lined the cover of a book. How these leaves from two different books and printers ended up together is an intriguing puzzle, but their bibliographic lives almost certainly joined together in an Augsburg bindery.

New exhibit now in Scheuch Atrium in Raether Library - America's Founding Visions: Declarations, Reactions, Provocations. This exhibit looks at the way that America's founding documents appeared to a variety of people across space and time and to the variety of ways they responded to them. It focuses on contemporary reaction to the Declaration of Independence and to mid-19th century engagements with both the Declaration and the U.S. Constitution in light of pressing social issues of the day. We hope that it will stimulate reflection on the way the story of America gets told and on the voices frequently omitted from that narrative.
