World Elder Abuse Awareness Day reminds us that protecting older adults is everyone's responsibility.

Financial exploitation is one of the most common forms of elder abuse and can have lasting impacts on an individual's financial security and well-being.

Take time to:
• Talk with older family members about scams and fraud
• Review financial and insurance documents together
• Encourage them to verify requests before sharing personal information
• Report suspicious activity

The Connecticut Insurance Department is committed to protecting consumers and helping residents make informed insurance decisions.

Connecticut's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol is in effect from June 11 through June 14.

As temperatures rise, take steps to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your pets:
💧 Drink plenty of water and don't wait until you're thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities to the early morning or evening and take frequent breaks in the shade.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🚿 Take cool showers or baths to help lower your body temperature.
👥 Check on older adults, young children, and others who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.
🐾 Make sure pets have access to water and shade, and never leave them in a parked vehicle.

Need a cooling center? Call 2-1-1 for locations.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe. ☀️

Life insurance isn't just for parents. Whether it's a spouse, partner, sibling, aging parent, or anyone else who depends on you, life insurance can help provide financial support when it's needed most.
