🏥Health Insurance

That’s the impossible choice many Connecticut residents are facing right now.

People are working hard and doing everything they can to keep up. But year after year, insurers seek astronomical rate increases, and health insurance premiums continue to rise faster than paychecks.

At some point, health insurance stops feeling like protection and becomes one more bill people simply cannot afford.

This week, CT Senate Republican lawmakers testified against proposed double-digit health insurance rate increases and stood up for Connecticut residents who need real relief from the rising cost of living.

Connecticut is already too expensive. We’re fighting to make it more affordable for you.

💡Connecticut having the 2nd-highest electric rates in America didn't happen by accident. It’s due to decades of failed leadership and bad policies from Connecticut Democrats. YOU are paying the price of bad decisions from the Lamont Administration. It's time for a change!

For years, Connecticut residents have been telling us the same thing - our state has become too expensive.

This summer, our senators are back in their districts, continuing to hear directly from residents about the affordability crisis impacting their household budgets and their ability to build a future here.

Connecticut has the 3rd-highest property taxes in the country, the 2nd-highest electric rates and the 3rd-highest income taxes.

These costs didn’t happen overnight. They are the result of years of failed Democrat leadership and policies that have made Connecticut increasingly unaffordable.

Something needs to change.

Senate Republicans are listening and we are actively working on proposals to lower costs, put more money back in the pockets of hardworking residents and make Connecticut more affordable.

💸Connecticut Democrats are touting one week without sales tax. But one week doesn’t solve the affordability crisis families face the other 51 weeks of the year.

When CT Republicans proposed a $1.5 billion tax-cut plan to put more of your hard-earned money back in your pocket, Democrats voted it down.

Connecticut families need more than a temporary break. They need lasting solutions that lower the cost of living and make our state more affordable.

One week isn’t enough. Connecticut taxpayers deserve to keep more of their money!

Connecticut’s Tax-Free Week starts tomorrow!

From August 16–22, shoppers can purchase most clothing and footwear priced under $300 per item without paying Connecticut sales tax.

With families across our state continuing to feel the pressure of high costs, Tax-Free Week is a great opportunity to save on back-to-school essentials and other clothing and footwear purchases.

We encourage Connecticut families to take advantage of these savings and support our local businesses while you shop!

A new study found CT ratepayers paid a $1.8 billion premium on electricity over 10 years. This is 31% over what it actually costs to generate their power. The energy procurement process is broken and it’s costing people real money.
