Some history is read in books.

Some history is still being written.

For more than 250 years, generations of Connecticut citizens have stepped forward to serve in the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard. They came from different backgrounds, professions, and walks of life, but shared a commitment to service, tradition, and representing our state with pride.

Now, we’re looking for the next generation.

If you’re ready to be part of something truly unique, we’d love to hear from you.

This past Saturday’s drill was a great reminder that things don’t always go according to plan-but what matters is how we respond.

Despite a few unexpected challenges, the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard did what we’ve done for more than 250 years: adapt, overcome, and carry on with the mission.
Thanks to the hospitality of the First Company Governor’s Horse Guard, we were able to hold drill at their armory and turn what could have been a difficult morning into a productive and successful day.

Being proactive, flexible, and willing to find solutions is what keeps us moving forward. Saturday was a great day of training, camaraderie, and teamwork, and we’re looking forward to more opportunities for cohesive drills alongside our fellow State Militia units.

A special thank you again to our sister unit The First Company Governor's Horse Guards!

As we honor our nation’s past while celebrating with communities across Connecticut, join us tonight as we take part in two outstanding community events:

🎶 Talcott Mountain Music Festival at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center

Then tomorrow, we proudly continue one of our longer standing traditions, as we march in the Columbia Fourth of July Parade, a celebration we look forward to each and every year.

Wherever you’re celebrating this Independence Day weekend, we wish you a safe, joyful, and patriotic Fourth of July.

We hope to see you along the way! 🇺🇸

Today, the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard proudly joins Americans across the nation in honoring the Stars and Stripes- the enduring symbol of our freedom, unity, & the sacrifices made by generations of Americans.

For more than 250 years, the American flag has flown over moments of triumph, challenge, and service. It represents the values that bind us together and reminds us of those who have stood in defense of our nation and its ideals.

As the Nation’s oldest continuously serving military unit, chartered in 1771, the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard is honored to continue a tradition of service beneath the flag we proudly carry and protect.

On this Flag Day, we encourage all Americans to take a moment to reflect on the history, meaning, and sacrifices represented by our nation’s colors.
