🚧 Highway 136 Water Line Improvements – Phase I

Over the next few weeks, OCWD will begin Phase I of a water line replacement project along Highway 136. This work will replace approximately 4,600 feet of aging water line.

This project is part of our continued investment in reliable service and stronger infrastructure for our customers. Please use caution around crews and equipment in the work area.

⚠️ LOW WATER PRESSURE / WATER LEAK NOTICE ⚠️

The Ohio County Water District is currently experiencing a water leak in the Hoover Hill service area. Areas that may be affected include:

No Creek
Heflin
Beda
Buford
Maxwell
Silver Beach
Hoover Hill

If you are experiencing low water pressure or notice an unusual amount of water running along a roadway, ditch, or property, please call our office at 270-298-7704 and press 3 to reach the water treatment plant and report it.

We are also temporarily supplying water to the City of Hartford while its system is experiencing a main break. This additional demand is affecting usage and the refill rate of the Hoover Hill water tank. Our staff is carefully balancing the system while working to locate the leak and maintain service.

🎉 Happy 1-Year Work Anniversary, Darrel Culbertson! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating Darrel Culbertson and his 1 year of service with the Ohio County Water District!

When asked about his time at OCWD, Darrel shared, " When I first joined this company, I thought I was simply starting a new job. What I didn’t expect was to become part of a family. I’ve learned that what makes this place special isn’t just the work we do, but the people we do it with. Through busy days and challenges, we support one another, celebrate successes, share plenty of laughs, and genuinely care for each other. I’m grateful for the friendships, memories, and experiences I’ve gained along the way. Thank you to everyone who has made me feel welcomed, supported, and valued. Sometimes the best part of a job isn’t the job itself, it’s the people who make it feel like family.”

Darrel says, “I love doing work with my Mini Excavator, camping, fishing, and setting in my deer stand watching the 🦌. I love spending time with my family and my spoiled dogs.”

Today we’re celebrating Joey Sallee and his 1 year of service with the Ohio County Water District as the lead water plant operator!
Joey shared, “I truly enjoy my time at Ohio County Water District and the opportunities it has given me to grow, learn, and take on new challenges. I’m proud to be part of a great team and to play a role in providing safe, reliable water to the communities we serve. Every day brings something new, and I enjoy being in an industry where the work we do really makes a difference.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, fishing, and working on projects. I’m grateful for where I’m at, excited about the future, and looking forward to continuing to learn, grow, and contribute at OCWD.”

⚠️ PLANNED WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION — TUESDAY, AUGUST 25

Our Distribution team will conduct planned repairs tomorrow, August 25, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. near Fire Tower Loop.

Approximately 75 customers may experience a temporary water service interruption or reduced water pressure in the following areas:

• Hopper Lane
• Southern Drive
• Strawberry Lane
• Blackberry Lane
• Fire Tower Loop
• Fire Tower Spur
• Jordan Lane
• Clearfield Drive
• Lee Drive
• Water Street
• Placid Lane
• City View Drive
• Dinah Drive
• Cowboy Lane
• Highview Drive
• Portions of U.S. Highway 231 South

Customers in these areas are encouraged to plan ahead and have water available for use during the repair period. Service will be restored as quickly as possible once the work is completed.

🎉 Happy 2-Year Work Anniversary, Ben Groves! 🎉
Ben has been a valued member of the OCWD team for the past two years, serving as a Distribution Operator. With six years of experience in water distribution, Ben brings valuable knowledge and dedication to our team.
Ben shared, “My favorite part of the job is working with drinking water infrastructure, you never know what the day and night will bring. It’s truly a 24/7, 365-day job. Clean, safe drinking water is what our customers expect and deserve. I’m happy to be part of a team that prides itself on making sure that happens, from the treatment plant all the way to the tap, every single day.”
Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years, Lindsey, their 7 year old son, Lawton, and their brand-new baby girl, Lakyn. He also enjoys spending as much time outdoors as he can.

🎉 Happy 22-Year Work Anniversary, Jason Chinn! 🎉
Jason has been a valued member of the OCWD team for the past 22 years, serving as a Water Plant Operator. More than two decades of service is an incredible milestone and reflects Jason’s dedication and commitment to OCWD and the community we serve.
As a Water Plant Operator, Jason plays an important role in the daily operation of our water treatment process and in helping ensure our customers receive clean, safe, and reliable drinking water. His many years of experience and knowledge of the treatment process make him a valuable part of the OCWD team.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys reading and writing fiction, giving him a creative outlet when he’s away from the plant. He also enjoys playing the drums in his spare time.
We appreciate Jason’s 22 years of hard work, knowledge, and dedication to Ohio County Water District and our customers. Thank you, Jason, for the many years you have devoted to helping us serve our community.
