Congratulations to Cooper Greene on his recognition for his digital veterans mapping project! His project is a digital map of a local cemetery that helps families of veterans locate the graves of their loved ones. In attendance were Board of Selectman David B. Goshdigian and Burlington’s First Selectman Doug Thompson.

It was an honor to celebrate this amazing milestone, and I thank everyone who helped organize the Eagle Scout ceremony.

I am pleased to share that the towns of Burlington and Harwinton have been selected to receive state funding to support the reconstruction of bridges through the State Local Bridge Program. This program provides municipalities with 50% of the project costs needed to repair local bridges.

The Alto Road Bridge in Burlington and the Gale Road Bridge, along with the Birch Hill Road Bridge in Harwinton, have been awarded funding under the latest round of this program. This is great news for our towns to support the improvement of local roadways, and for residents who often use and rely on these bridges.

Thank you to the governor and the DOT Commissioner for investing in our local infrastructure.

I am proud to have achieved a 100% voting record during the 2026 legislative session. It has been an honor to represent the 76th district in Hartford and fight for the issues that matter in our towns. Every vote matters, and I thank those who have put their trust in me.

I had the wonderful opportunity of attending Burlington's public reading of the Declaration of Independence to celebrate America 250. The Declaration of Independence has inspired generations and established key principles of democracy. 250 years later, we continue to celebrate this important document and honor those who helped to set the stage for our freedom, liberty, and American ideals.

Thank you to Dave Ellsworth who is a member of Burlington's 250 committee, and to everyone who showed up to celebrate this amazing milestone!

The storm from this past Saturday has created significant damage to our district and surrounding towns. Today, I joined fellow lawmakers in visiting Harwinton to witness this damage firsthand and spoke to residents whose homes have been affected. Harwinton's First Selectman Mike Criss also signed a Declaration of Emergency.

Thank you to all our first responders, public works crews, and utility workers who have been working tirelessly to clean up the damage and restore our community. This storm took many by surprise, and I urge DEEP to see if we can get a designation to investigate if this storm was a downburst or a tornado.

My thoughts are with everyone impacted by this storm; we will continue working to make sure our communities receive the help they need.

Congratulations to my friend Scott Tharau on his retirement after 40 years with the Burlington Public Works Department! Those who live in Burlington have had the peace of mind having a guy like Scott at the helm throughout storms, emergencies, power outages, and just taking care of our parks and grounds. It is always a pleasure to be in his company, and Burlington was very lucky to have him throughout the years. I wish him a long, happy, healthy retirement.

My colleagues and I left a meeting in Kent this morning and ran into a few Appalachian Trail-through hikers. The hikers, from Wisconsin and Rochester, started in Georgia in March. We bought them breakfast to wish them luck on their way to Maine.
