Earlier this week, Hartford Fire & Rescue EMS providers trained at the Veteran's Memorial Aquatic Center - VMAC, focusing on pool-related emergencies and patient care in aquatic environments.

Working alongside the facility’s professional lifeguard staff, crews practiced coordinated responses to incidents such as water rescue, cardiac arrest, victim removal, and patient packaging for transport. Training in an actual pool setting helps reinforce teamwork, communication, and the unique challenges that come with aquatic emergencies.

We would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center for their time, expertise, and willingness to partner with us to make this training possible. Opportunities like this help ensure our EMS personnel are prepared to respond quickly and effectively—no matter the environment.

Real-World Training, Real-World Partnerships! We would like to extend a sincere thank you to ProAmpac for their willingness to open their doors to make this training possible. Their flexibility and commitment to safety provided our crews with an opportunity rarely available in our area.

Access to facilities like this continue to play a critical role in ensuring our firefighters and EMS providers can train under realistic conditions, especially when purpose-built training environments are limited. Realistic training helps prepare our crews to safely and effectively operate in complex, real-world situations.

We are grateful for strong community partners like ProAmpac, who temporarily interrupt normal operations, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety -not only for their employees, but for the entire community.

Rennert's Fire Equipment Service, Inc. recently completed routine pump testing and maintenance on our Truck, Engines, and Tenders. These tests ensure our pumps can deliver the water flow and pressure required during emergency operations. This work is conducted in accordance with NFPA standards, helping us maintain compliance while ensuring reliability in the field. Regular testing and maintenance are critical to making sure our crews have dependable equipment when seconds matter most.
