Thank you to everyone who came out this past weekend to celebrate Bridging Freedom: A Juneteenth Celebration! ❤️💛💚🖤

It was a beautiful, historic day of unity, bringing the City of Hartford and the Town of East Hartford, CT 📍 together across the river to connect, honor history, and celebrate freedom as one vibrant community.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing partners, the fantastic vendors, and the incredible performers who kept the energy high and the music flowing all day long. ✨

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and made this celebration filled with so much joy, love, and connection. We already can’t wait for next year!

Located at 1212 Main Street, they have a fantastic menu of unique handcrafted drinks, seasonal lattes, and fresh snacks. This space also features a beautiful history photo wall and a super comfortable lounge area that’s perfect for meeting up with friends or getting some work done.
Plus, being right across the street from Dunkin’ Park makes it the perfect pre- or post-game stop to cheer on the Yard Goats! ⚾️☕️

Who is ready for the America 250 Kickoff Celebration in Hartford?

We are seeking music, dance, fife & drum, and spoken word performances that honor America’s founding and elevate the diverse cultural voices that have shaped our nation, from the Revolutionary era through today.

🎶 Music, dance, or spoken word aligned with America 250 themes.

Content connected to:
•The American Revolution and/or Civil War
•Patriotism, freedom, democracy, unity, resilience

🌎 Cultural perspectives encouraged (but are not limited to):
• Native American traditions and storytelling
• Black American music, dance, and spoken word
• Latino / Hispanic historical and cultural perspectives

🕰️ Historically informed or thoughtfully interpreted content
🎤 Performances appropriate for a formal civic ceremony
⏱️ Ability to perform a minimum of 5–10 minutes (flexible based on programming)
🗣️ Ability to provide a brief spoken context (1–2 minutes) explaining the piece
🚫 No overtly political, divisive, or commercial content

Bonus (not required but encouraged!)
•Local or regional ties to Connecticut
•Educational or storytelling elements
•Traditional instruments or historically inspired arrangements
