Cedar County Emergency Management had the privilege of supporting Public Safety at the Cedar County Fair this year.
The Mobile operations center is specially equipped to provide on scene communications, coordination, mobile data, situational awareness and more. The unit is self contained with a generator and much of the equipment inside is wired to run off either AC power or DC (12 Volt) power or both.

**TRAFFIC ADVISORY **

Motorists are asked to slow down, drive with Caution, and allow a little extra time to reach your destination when traveling the roads in Cedar County 06-11-2026 (Thursday).

BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) will have 300 riders leaving Crofton Thursday morning the early riders may leave around 5:45 A.M. and all riders will be on the road by 8:45 A.M.

They will leave Crofton and head east on Highway 12, the south on Highway 81, then into Hartington on Highway 84. They leave Hartington going east on Highway 84 to Highway 15 and then through Laurel and ending the day in Wayne.

They also have a Gravel Route.

** Chance of significant Severe Weather for Cedar County today ** As of 10:00 A.M. 05-17-2026 The NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued the following two outlooks. The photo with the red area indicates the greatest probability of a tornado happening.
The graphic with the orange colored area indicates where there is a level 3 out of 5 chances for severe weather. The latest guidance we have is that storm could start around 4 p.m. this afternoon (05/17/26) and continue through at least midnight if not later.
Please keep in mind that the atmosphere may change and things could shift, they could increase in risk or decrease in risk.

Please stay weather aware today if you are in the area covered by the outlook.
NOAA weather radio is always a great way in addition to local broadcast media sources such as television and radio stations.

Cedar County is in a level 3 out of 5 risk for all modes of severe weather (Wind, Tornado, Large Hail, heavy rain) for Sunday May 17 2026. This outlook was issued May 15, 2026 by the National Weather Service Storm Prediction center. The timing, location and severity depend upon how the atmosphere responds to Saturday evenings storms. Current thoughts are storms could develop mid afternoon to mid evening, and could persist into Monday.
Have a way to stay weather aware, be sure you have a method to receive warnings during the overnight hours.
Stay tuned to NOAA weather radio, local media outlets or other trusted sources for timely weather information.

Wednesday March 25, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. Cedar County will observe Severe Weather Awareness Week and participate in the annual State Wide Tornado Drill.
We will set off outdoor warning sirens as part of the drill (unless actual severe weather threatens the area at that time).
