Big news for Hartley County! đźš‘

Hartley Volunteer Fire & EMS is excited to share that our department will soon be adding a brand-new ambulance to our fleet thanks to a $500,000 Rural Ambulance Service Grant through Texas House Bill 3000.

For a small volunteer department in the Texas Panhandle, this is more than just a new truck — it’s an investment in faster responses, dependable equipment, and better care for the people who call 911 on what is often the worst day of their lives.

Our crews cover hundreds of miles of highways, county roads, ranchland, and neighboring communities. Whether it’s a rollover on the highway, a medical emergency in town, or support during large wildfires, our volunteers are always ready to answer the call. Having a second updated ambulance means we can continue serving Hartley County while also helping surrounding departments when mutual aid is needed.

Volunteer departments rely heavily on grants, donations, and community support to keep operations moving forward. Opportunities like this help us continue building a stronger EMS service for the future while giving our responders the tools they need to safely care for patients across our region.

We are incredibly thankful for the support from the State of Texas, our county leadership, and the community members who stand behind us every day. Hartley Fire & EMS remains committed to serving our county with pride, dedication, and professionalism.

What fuels a firefighter during grassfire season?

Water? Yes.
Determination? Absolutely.
Community support? Always.
But somewhere around 2:00 AM on an all-night fire… the answer might just be Red Bull. ⚡️🪽

During these long grassfire operations, our firefighters spend countless hours on the line protecting homes, ranches, livestock, and our communities. Water and meals keep crews going, but anyone who has worked an all-night fire knows caffeine quickly becomes part of the operation too.

After enough hours on a grassfire, a cold can of Red Bull can boost morale faster than a rain cloud. You’ll see exhausted firefighters magically come back to life after one sip. We appreciate every donation our communities provide, but there’s a reason a case of Red Bull disappears from the command truck in about 14 seconds!

It may seem simple, but small donations like those make a long night on the fire line a little easier for the men and women out there protecting our communities. Thank you to everyone who continues to support your local firefighters and departments!

Hartley Volunteer Fire & EMS would like to take a moment to share the reality of what this recent stretch of grass fires has meant for our department.

These fires have taken a toll—not just on our personnel, but on our equipment and resources. Engines, brush trucks, hoses, tools, and protective gear are being used continuously in extreme conditions. The wear and tear adds up quickly, and replacing or repairing equipment is costly.

As a fully volunteer department, every call we respond to is answered by individuals who give their time, energy, and safety to protect our community—without compensation. We do this because we care deeply about the people and places we serve.

We have had many people ask how they can help. If you would like to support Hartley Volunteer Fire & EMS, donations can be made in the following ways:

Venmo:
Cash App: $HartleyFireEMS
PayPal:
Give Butter:
https://givebutter.com/new-brush-truck-gbkxgf
Mail: P.O. Box 32 Hartley TX 79044

Every dollar truly makes a difference and goes directly back into serving our community and maintaining the equipment needed to respond when it matters most.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our community, local businesses, and surrounding departments. We couldn’t do this without you.
