Yesterday, we were able the finish a journey that started back in November.

We had been looking to upgrade our ambulance.
Our Fire district EMS call volume has tripled in the last 3 years. It was decided we needed to upgrade our ambulance but new just isn’t in our budget.
We found an ambulance in Northlake, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

So a short plane ride and a quick 1,900 mile drive, a trip to Signs Etcetera, radio swap, and finally swapping all the gear and supplies.

The upgraded Ambulance 627 is in service.

A big thank you to Coulee City Fire Department for the use of A194 while we completed this change.

As most Hartline residents are aware there was a large straw stack fire just north of town yesterday.

This has resulted in loss of Fiber clear to Grand Coulee as well as power to residents north of Hartline.

Fiber was restored temporarily but not power. It is currently too hot to replace the burnt power pole.

There have been questions raised about why we are not putting the fire out. Initially this was 2,500 tons of straw. Thanks to Chief Pinar from Almira and some quick math here is the reason.

“It had 12.5 billion btu’s It would have taken 10 million gallons to extinguish that fire! That would have been 10,000 trucks holding a 1000 gallons each! That’s why hay stacks are left to burn out!”

We can understand the frustration people have, it’s very hot, freezers and refrigerators need to be kept cool.

If you are unaffected by this outage please reach out to your friends and neighbors to see if they are in need of stock water, generators or just a place to get out of the heat for a break. Our community never fails to come to the aid of those in need. We are confident they will step up this time as well.

Our department currently has personnel monitoring this fire 24 hrs a day.

Please be careful while working on and around your equipment.

It’s harvest time. Lots of hours being put in, it’s easy to get too tired or complacent.

Stay safe out there.

LIND - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says it assisted emergency responders in a farming accident south of Lind late Tuesday.

Please be careful out there.

🔥Another red flag warning🚨 Today and Wednesday for chance of ⛈⚡️and low humidity. While some rain is possible it will only be light. Strong winds will fan new fire starts.
