🔥 INCIDENT UPDATE – HARTSEL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT 🔥

Hartsel Fire Protection District crews responded to a serious incident involving multiple mobile homes and trailers on fire, along with multiple gasoline cans and more than a dozen propane tanks actively involved in the fire. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and protect surrounding exposures while dealing with the significant hazards presented by the burning structures, fuel, and propane cylinders.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our auto-aid and partner agencies who responded and assisted our crews:

🚒 Northwest Fire
🚒 Jefferson/Como Fire
🚒 Lake George Fire
🚒 Southern Park County Fire
🚑 South Park Ambulance
🚔 Park County Sheriff’s Office
📡 Park County Emergency Communications

Platte Canyon Fire was also dispatched but was cancelled while en route.

We are extremely grateful for the strong working relationships we have with our neighboring agencies. Their willingness to respond and support our firefighters is invaluable during incidents of this magnitude.

A special thank you to the Hartsel Fire Auxiliary for their continued support of our crews on scene, and bringing JR’s Pizza in Fairplay, pizza for responders.

Thank you to all of the responding agencies and personnel who worked together to protect our community. This is what auto aid is all about. 🤝🚒

🚒 Engine 732 is on the move once again.

After being home for just one week, Engine 732 and crew members Triston, Max, Weston, and Issac are once again answering the call, this time responding to the Elk Fire in Colorado.

We wish them a safe deployment and thank them for their continued dedication to protecting our communities and supporting our fellow firefighters across the state.

Please note: While our crew is deployed, staffing within our district will not be affected. We remain fully staffed and ready to respond to emergencies throughout our service area.

When our firefighters return, they bring back valuable wildland firefighting experience, training, and knowledge gained while working alongside departments from across Colorado. That experience strengthens our team, enhances the capabilities of our district, and ultimately benefits the community we proudly serve.

Please join us in wishing Triston, Max, Weston, and Issac a safe assignment and safe travels. We look forward to welcoming them home safely.

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING – AUGUST 5, 2026 🚩

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for today, August 5, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Strong winds, low humidity, and critically dry conditions will create an elevated risk for rapid wildfire growth.

We remain under a Stage 2 Fire Ban. All residents and visitors are urged to continue following all fire restrictions and use extreme caution with any activity that could produce a spark.

Affected Fire Zones:
• 211
• 212
• 213
• 214
• 217
• 218

Wildfires can start and spread rapidly under today’s conditions. Please avoid activities that could ignite a fire, stay aware of changing weather conditions, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.

One spark can start a wildfire. Let’s all do our part to protect our community, our first responders, and the beautiful landscapes we call home.
