In case any of us didn’t know, doing this with pets you’ve decided you no longer want is a FELONY. The amount of dogs being dumped here in Trousdale County has gotten entirely out of hand. In the last year, our small shelter has intaked over ONE HUNDRED dogs that have been abandoned or dumped. Not Nashville, not Murfreesboro, here in Hartsville. There are several resources for Trousdale county residents to have their dogs fixed for free or very close to it, there is no reason for this. If you know whose dogs these might have been, please reach out to the sheriffs department or animal shelter (615-680-4022) and pass that information along. This is not the behavior people in this county stand for and those that are doing this need to be held accountable.

On a separate note, at this time we DESPERATELY need foster families to help us with these puppies. The shelter is happy to pay for vetting, food, and any other supplies needed, we just don’t physically have the space to house this many dogs at this time. Please share and help us help these puppies!

Hey there everybody! We just wanted to let everyone know that the Hartsville Animal Shelter has got some *awesome* doggies up for adoption right now! We’ll give you a quick breakdown of each dog, and we would really love your help in finding homes for them! For the last 2 weeks our little local shelter has been totally full and we need your help! All dogs that come from our shelter have been fully vetted, vaccinated, socialized, and spayed/neutered. At this time, we are even willing to waive many or all of the adoption fees for excellent homes! Let me tell you about what we’ve got:

-Honey: This little lady is a border collie about 2 years old who is very smart, calm, and EXCELLENT on a leash (and honestly doesn’t even need one). She loves to go for walks and would get in your pocket if she could! 30-40 pounds

-Rocky: This big goofball has got none of the brains and all of the brawn! At about a year old and a lean 65 pounds, he would be ideal for a family that is used to larger dogs. Rocky does well with kids, cats, and any body who feeds him!

Smiley&Spot: Smiley (the blonde) was picked up as stray with her sister Spot. Both are about 30 pounds, very playful, and have a TON of character. Smiley loves to go on walks and play, while spot prefers to keep your couch from floating away!😂 we believe they came from an abusive situation, but both are very friendly, just pretty timid with strangers at first!

Good Morning, Trousdale County!

It has come to our attention that we may need to be a little more specific regarding our previous post.

At this time, we are only enrolling dogs in the Spay and Neuter Program for Trousdale County residents. This is subject to change in the future; however, currently the program is available for dogs only and is limited to residents of Trousdale County.

We had many people reach out yesterday and successfully enroll their dogs, and we still have spots available for August!

If you are a Trousdale County resident and would like to enroll your dog, or if you have any questions about the program, please contact the Hartsville Animal Shelter. We encourage you to reach out soon, as appointments are limited.

📢 Exciting Announcement from the Hartsville/Trousdale County Animal Shelter! 🐾

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Spay and Neuter Assistance Program beginning in August!

Each month, the shelter will help cover the majority of the cost for up to 10 dogs owned by members of our community to be spayed or neutered. This program is part of our ongoing effort to reduce unwanted litters and help decrease the number of homeless and unwanted dogs in our area.

In addition, the shelter is currently developing a Dog Food Assistance Program for Hartsville and Trousdale County residents. We hope to launch this program in August or September. Its purpose is to help community members who are struggling to afford food for their dogs, ensuring that pets can remain healthy and stay with the families who love them.

As we work to implement these programs, we are asking for support from our community. If you are able, please consider donating dog food to help us provide assistance to local families and their pets.

Together, we can make a positive difference for the animals and people of Hartsville and Trousdale County. ❤️🐶
