🚨 Stay Prepared:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts (phone, NOAA radio, etc.)
• Know where you will take shelter if a warning is issued
• Avoid unnecessary travel during severe storms
• Keep an eye on changing conditions throughout the day

We encourage everyone to remain weather aware and take this system seriously. Updates will be provided as needed.

Now is the time to stay alert and be prepared.

What you should do:

🚨 SCAM ALERT – DO NOT FALL FOR THIS 🚨

We have been made aware of fraudulent “Final Notice – Court Enforcement Action” text messages being circulated claiming to be from a Missouri court regarding unpaid traffic violations.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

These notices may look official and include:

* Court-style formatting and case numbers
* Threats of license suspension, collections, or legal action
* A QR code directing you to make a payment

🚫 Red Flags:

* Courts do NOT demand payment via QR codes
* Courts do NOT send “final notices” like this demanding immediate payment without prior official service

* Pressure tactics to scare you into paying quickly

✅ What you should do:

* DO NOT scan the QR code
* DO NOT send any money
* DO NOT provide personal information

Two Deputies Better Protected Thanks to USDSA Donation of Rifle-Rated Armor

The Wright County Sheriff's Office extends its sincere appreciation to the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association for their generous donation of equipment to our agency.

Through their support, we have received two Point Blank carriers equipped with rifle-rated armor. This equipment directly enhances deputy safety and readiness in an environment where threats continue to evolve.

The United Stated Deputy Sheriff's Association is a nonprofit organization committed to assisting law enforcement agencies nationwide by providing critical equipment and resources where they are needed most.

This donation was provided at no cost to our agency. We are grateful for partners who invest in officer safety and help ensure deputies are properly equipped without placing the additional financial burden on our community.

Thank you, USDSA for helping keep our deputies safe!

Domestic Disturbance and Weapon Violation Ends with Arrest of Hartville Man

On April 6th, 2026 Wright County Deputies responded to a domestic incident, outside of Hartville, Missouri, involving an armed, highly intoxicated male subject. While deputies were responding, they were advised that the subject began firing the weapon inside the residence. This immediately placed the victim in harms way. The male stated it was a “suicide mission.”

Upon arrival deputies located the female victim, who was able to get out of the residence safely. Chief Deputy Akers began communicating with the male, who was still inside the residence. After a short time he walked out of the residence, unarmed, and was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed the suspect, identified as Aubrey Ballew, 47, Hartville, was angry and drank a large amount of alcohol, causing him to become very intoxicated. Upon entering the residence, deputies located the loaded 9mm handgun he was armed with. It was laying in the floor, at the doorway he just exited. Ballew sent messages indicating that things were bad and referenced a gunfight with police.

Ballew was transported to the Wright County Jail. He was formally charged with:

Domestic Assault 1st Degree- Class B Felony
Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Three Counts)- Class E Felony

He is being held in the Wright County Jail with NO BOND.

As previously stated, I am very thankful for and commend the work of our deputies. I am thankful no one was injured during this event.

*All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
