State police said an Otsego County sheriff's lieutenant was arrested Friday on charges including felonies.
According to a news release, Lt. Thomas Fellrath of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was arrested on multiple charges after an investigation by the state police Special Investigations Unit, the Troop C Community Stabilization Unit and the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office.
Fellrath, 35, of Hartwick, is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony; defrauding the government, a Class E felony; and official misconduct, a Class A misdemeanor.
Fellrath is accused of possessing 10 grams of co***ne during a traffic stop on the state Thruway in Herkimer County. At the time of his arrest, Fellrath was on duty and driving an unmarked Otsego County Sheriff’s Office vehicle outside of Otsego County, according to the release.
The case is being prosecuted by the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office, under Acting District Attorney Christopher J. Di Donna and the Herkimer County District Attorney's Office, under District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter, the release stated.
