🚒 SHE’S BACK IN SERVICE! 🚒

Just in time for Memorial Day, Hartwick Fire Department Company #1 officially welcomed Brush Truck 0851 back into the fleet this morning!

We celebrated its return with a traditional "push-in" ceremony, followed by a quick bath to get it shining bright for the parade.

Fire apparatus represent massive capital investments funded by our taxpayers. To maximize your investment, this vehicle underwent a complete remodel. The team at TNT Body King (411 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham, NY) did a phenomenal job equipping the truck with brand-new utility body parts to ensure it serves our community safely and efficiently for years to come.

THANK YOU to our incredible community members and the Town for supporting this project and making it possible. Your investment keeps our team safe and ready.

A special thank you goes out to Ron Clegg and Kevin Ray for the countless hours they personally invested in overseeing this remodel and getting this truck line-ready. We appreciate your dedication!

Check out the pictures and below to see the new upgrades and the push-in ceremony!

When you call 911, an entire system springs into action. From the Otsego County dispatchers who take your call to our squad members rolling out the door, teamwork defines emergency medicine. Help us help you by making sure your house numbers are clearly visible from the road, both day and night, so our crew can find you without delay.

Need a 911 number for your home? We create these numbers for you! If you are in need of one, please call the Hartwick Fire Department Company #1 at (607) 293-7741.

Did you know there are Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available for public use throughout our community?

In a cardiac emergency, every second counts, and these devices are designed to be used by anyone—the machine even gives you loud voice prompts to follow.

We have a question for the town: Do you know exactly where the nearest AED is located right now? Whether it’s at the Hartwick Fire House, a local club, or a church, knowing their locations can save a life.

Drop a comment below with where you've spotted one!

🔥 BURN BAN ENDS: STAY SAFE, HARTWICK! 🔥

As the New York State residential burn ban officially wraps up, Hartwick Fire Department Company 1 wants to remind our neighbors to keep safety at the top of their minds

Backyard clean-up is necessary, but a single spark can spread quickly!

Before you ignite any brush, make sure you cross these vital steps off your list:đź“‹
Your Safe Burning Checklist
• Check the wind. Avoid burning on dry, windy days.
•Clear the space. Keep a 10-foot area clear of grass and leaves around your pile.
•Stay on guard. Never leave your fire unattended for even a minute.
•Prep your water. Keep a garden hose or water shovel right by your side.
•Burn clean wood. Only burn natural logs or brush. No plastic, trash, orb treated lumber.
•Drown the ashes. Make sure the fire is 100% extinguished before you walk away.

Let's work together to protect our beautiful town and prevent unnecessary emergency calls. If your fire ever gets out of hand, do not hesitate—call 911 immediately.

Thank you for helping us keep Hartwick safe! 🧑‍🚒🚒
