Earlier today, June 13, 2026, Harvard Fire-EMS was dispatched for a reported drowning incident. Ambulance 2, along with Harvard Police Department and Bolton Fire-EMS paramedics, responded to the scene. While en route, Ambulance 2 requested UMass Life Flight to respond to the Still River Road landing zone.

Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, the patient had already been removed from the water and was breathing. The crew of Engine 1 established and secured the landing zone for the incoming helicopter. During our care the patient became conscious and alert. Out of an abundance of caution, the patient was transported by UMass LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center for further evaluation and care.

We are pleased to report that we received an update this afternoon indicating the patient is in excellent condition.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the rapid, coordinated response provided by our public safety partners.

Today, the Harvard Fire-EMS Association is proud to announce a donation of $13,000 to On-Site Academy, made possible through the incredible support of our community during the inaugural Longest Mile for Bravest Minds.

What began as an idea to raise awareness for mental health has become something truly special. Thanks to the runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and supporters who came together on May 3rd, we were able to turn that vision into meaningful action.

This donation will help On-Site Academy continue providing life-changing mental health and wellness programs for first responders and their families. Their work ensures that those who dedicate their lives to helping others have access to the support they need when facing their own challenges.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success. Together, we proved that no one has to face their struggles alone and that when a community comes together, we can make a real difference.

We are already looking forward to continuing this important mission at the Longest Mile for Bravest Minds 2027 on May 16, 2027. Mark your calendars and join us as we once again come together to support first responder mental health and wellness.
