Stork Award
On August 25, 2026 at 12:59am, your Harvest Volunteers were dispatched for a female that was pregnant with twins in active labor at her residence. At 01:06am, the first unit from Harvest arrived on scene. As members prepped for the delivery, the first Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI) unit arrived on scene and the patient was loaded onto the stretcher. At 01:12am the first baby was delivered on scene. Both the baby and the mother were prepared for transport to the hospital, requiring a second HEMSI unit. While en route to the hospital, the mother started having contractions and delivered the second baby at 01:45am. A third HEMSI unit was called to the scene to transport the second baby. Harvest members assisted in patient care, splitting crews to ride in 3 separate ambulances as the patient and her two babies were transported to the hospital.
This was the second prehospital delivery call for your Harvest Volunteers in the last 3 months. Delivering a baby in the field is uncommon enough, and delivering twins in the field is something our members won’t soon forget. Congratulations to Deputy Chief Tim Blake, EMT Lacey Gilmour, Probationary members Grace Moore and Joseph Powell who were all awarded their Stork pins featuring two storks for their assistance in the delivery of twins.

🚨 Structure Fire🚨
At approximately 21:05pm on 8/28/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded as automatic aid with Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Bobo Volunteer Fire & Rescue to reports of a possible structure fire in the 1100 block of Toney School Rd in the Toney community. First arriving units from Harvest reported smoke showing inside the single story residence. Members worked to locate the source of the smoke, opening up the wall with hooks to find the fire and quickly extinguishing it. Approximately 100 gallons of water used. All units clear and back in service.
This structure fire was the 12th out of 15 calls your Harvest Volunteers answered on 8/28/2026.

🚨 Vehicle Fire🚨
At approximately 12:50pm on 8/22/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded to reports of a single vehicle on fire on the northbound side of Hwy 53 near the intersection of Deer Run Ln. First arriving units from Harvest reported a single vehicle on fire with fireworks shooting off from the bed of the truck. Members quickly stretched a hoseline and knocked down the fire. 450 gallons of water used, all units clear and back in service.

🚨 Vehicle Fire🚨
At approximately 16:05pm on 8/10/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded to reports of a single vehicle on fire in the 200 block of Maggie Mance Ln in the Harvest community. Manpower was stretched thin as Harvest units were working a full arrest in the north side of the district when the call came out. The first arriving unit from Harvest reported a single vehicle on fire threatening a residential structure. Monrovia Volunteer Fire-Rescue and Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue were paged due to the fire possibly extending into the attic space. While additional units were en route, Harvest recieved a call for a wreck with injury on Hwy 53. Some units diverted to cover that incident since our mutual aid partners were on scene of the fire. Thankfully, all departments made quick work of the vehicle fire, ensuring there was no extension into the residence. All units clear and back in service.
We are very thankful for our west side mutual aid partners who assisted during a busy timeframe this afternoon.

🚨 Vehicle Fire🚨
At approximately 13:00pm on 8/7/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded to reports of a single vehicle on fire in the parking lot of RD's Barbecue on Nick Davis Rd. As the fire was threatening structures, Monrovia Volunteer Fire-Rescue was paged for mutual aid. First arriving units reported heavy fire showing from the engine compartment extending to the porch of the business. We experienced a throttle failure with Engine 123's pump, so we relied on Engine 312 from Monrovia to get water on the fire. We are thankful for their response and assistance. Approximately 750 gallons of water used. All units clear and back in service.

Training Culture

The expectation is simple:
Get stronger. Get faster. Get smarter.

That's the standard for your Harvest Volunteers. Training doesn't start and stop on drill nights. Every shift is an opportunity to sharpen individual skills, work as a crew, and become more proficient at the job. Throw ladders, stretch hose, force doors, operate equipment, review SOGs, or spend time in the gym. Find something that makes you and your crew better than you were yesterday.
We're also challenging every member to post videos of what they're working on in the department group chat. This action creates accountability, but more importantly, it creates momentum. When one crew is putting in work, it pushes the next crew to do the same.
Good departments don't develop a strong training culture by accident. They build it one day at a time through firefighters who take pride in their department and refuse to let complacency become the standard.

July 2026 Run Stats

July kept your Harvest Volunteers busy from start to finish. Multiple training sessions were conducted in the sweltering heat and high humidity. These sessions were catered to fireground actions, such as stretching hose, forcible entry, and throwing portable ground ladders. Whether responding to incidents or spending evenings on the training ground, members remained committed to being prepared for the next call.
One of the busiest stretches of the month came when your Harvest Volunteers answered 18 calls in a 24-hour period. This was a reminder that the pace doesn't slow down, even in the middle of an Alabama summer.

🚨 Vehicle Fire🚨
At approximately 22:20pm on 7/31/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded to reports of a single vehicle on fire on Hwy 53 near Mussleman Ln. First arriving units reported an unoccupied passenger vehicle on the side of the road with fire showing from the engine compartment. Members quickly got to work stretching a hoseline and knocking down the fire. Approximately 700 gallons of water used. All units clear and back in service.

Over the last 24 hours, your Harvest Volunteers have answered 18 calls for service, ranging from high priority medical emergencies to fire alarms to electrical safety issues, while still completing scheduled training and maintenance requirements. That commitment is what defines our membership. The calls don't stop, and neither does the work behind the scenes: Training, equipment checks, and preparation are all part of the requirements to keep a department operating. Days like this will become more frequent as our area continues its explosive growth.
We appreciate the dedication and commitment of our members who continue to answer the call and put in the work to serve Harvest and our surrounding communities.

🚨 Structure Fire🚨
At approximately 17:35pm on 7/25/2026, your Harvest Volunteers responded as automatic aid into the 100 block of Huston Ct for a fire alarm that was quickly upgraded to a working structure fire. First arriving crews from Monrovia Volunteer Fire-Rescue reported smoke showing from a two story residential structure. Members from Harvest tagged up with first due crews to assist with fire attack and search. Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Huntsville Fire and Rescue, and Madison Fire and Rescue were paged for manpower. All crews worked diligently to make a solid stop. Approximately 20,000 gallons of water used. All units clear and back in service.
