And that’s a wrap. 24 hours spent training in the ocean. We have taught a lot of great students but there’s something special about this group. 18 individuals from 7 different local organizations that all work together during emergency water incidents. Every student was enthusiastic, passionate, and wanting to spend more and more hours perfecting the skills. Asking questions, considering various possible scenarios, and wanting to try different ways of performing each technique. The Southern Coastline of Maine is in good hands. York, Wells, and Ogunquit, thank YOU for an amazing weekend. Groups like this is what keeps us so passionate about teaching.

After losing her husband, Carnegie Medal recipient Gary Knaggs, in a 1977 rescue attempt, she dedicated her life to encouraging others through spiritual guidance and now through her book, I Hear You: Wisdom Nuggets from God. Golden rules

Memorial Day weekend is approaching, the island is waking up, and soon enough we’ll all be pretending traffic on the Causeway personally victimized us.

So before summer officially begins on LBI… a few ground rules. Respectfully. ☀️

The 10 Shore Commandments of Summer on LBI

Thou shalt not set up camp directly on top of another group.The beach is large. Use it.

Thou shalt not complain about wait times.It’s summer on LBI. You and everybody else wanted ice cream at 8 PM.

Thou shalt tip well.A lot of people work incredibly hard all summer long to make LBI feel like summer for everyone else.

Thou shalt pause before crossing the boulevard.Yes, you have the right of way. Physics still exists.

Thou shalt not argue with badge checkers.They did not create the beach badge policy or the pop-up tent policy.

Thou shalt clean up after thy dog.Every single time. No exceptions.

Thou shalt retire aggressive shoobie discourse.We’re all here now. Let’s heal.

Thou shalt ride bikes like a functioning member of society.Pick a lane. Commit to it.

Thou shalt use basic manners.“Please” and “thank you” still work on LBI.

Thou shalt leave the island better than thou found it.Beach, streets, rentals, bayside parking lots… none of them are your trash can.
