Sharpening our skills is critical to ensuring every member makes it home safely. Today, Captain Este’s shift dedicated their training to Mayday operations and firefighter survival drills. While we hope these techniques are never needed on a real incident, rigorous and continuous practice is the foundation of crew safety.

Dispose of old or damaged lithium batteries safely. Lowe's on Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey has a dispenser near their customer service desk for anyone to dispose household lithium batteries. No questions asked.

Members of the Harvey Volunteer Fire Company #2 made an incredible showing at the annual LSFA bowling tournament in Baton Rouge today, bringing home top honors across multiple categories!

​Christi Rhoto (Women's Auxiliary) bowled her way to the top with Woman’s High Game, earning herself a brand-new bowling ball. She also rolled with her team to secure a fantastic 2nd place finish with an overall score of 1473.

Firefighter Cameron Rhoto and District Chief Timothy Rhoto dominated the lanes, capturing 1st place overall with an impressive combined score of 1960.

Today’s training session at Station 64 led by Captain Este and the experienced operators focused on hands-on application of airbag systems. Newer members gained essential experience in equipment operation and field deployment procedures to maintain operational readiness. Thanks to Captian Este and his crew for ensuring experience is passed down.

Last night, we had Municipal Emergency Services (MES) at Station 64 for a hands-on training session featuring some serious new hardware: the latest Makita rescue saws.

​Our crews had the opportunity to get up close and personal with this new equipment, testing out the power, versatility, and performance capabilities that these saws bring to the table. When it comes to rescue operations, having reliable, high-performance tools is a game changer, and it’s always a priority to ensure our team is fully trained and ready to deploy the latest technology efficiently.

​A huge thank you to the team from MES for bringing these units out and providing expert instruction. Training like this ensures we stay sharp and ready to serve our community at the highest level.
