Shellfish update 09/29/26: the Pleasant Bay closure is rescinded

🦪October shellfish reminders
- Shellfishing days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
- Quahogs must be 1” thick at the hinge
- The only open areas are Pleasant Bay and Nantucket Sound beaches (see full notice with maps for details)

“Every day is a training day”

The week Harwich Firefighters were fortunate to have a house slated for demolition donated for training.

Bob and Kathy Chisholm offered their house up for the department to use prior to it being torn down. Their builder, Steve O’Leary worked with the department to allow personnel to get in prior to his workers.

Firefighters on duty worked over the last three days practicing advancing hoselines, search techniques, victim removal, laddering and roof ventilation.

Firefighters will continue to train tomorrow and throughout the weekend, getting as much value from this opportunity as possible.

Being able to practice in real houses is invaluable in preparing our firefighters. We are grateful for the opportunity.
