🚒 HWSFD Update: Busy Times & Big Milestones! 🚒

🔥 Growth in Our Ranks
Since January 1st, we’ve grown from 17 interior firefighters to 22 active interior firefighters.

🚑 Responding to Emergencies
We’ve responded to 334 emergencies so far, with 132 medical calls in partnership with Harwinton Ambulance. Our first responder program has been a huge success!

👩‍🚒 Training with the Next Generation
We’ve been spending time training with nearly 10 Jr. Firefighters! It’s inspiring to see the future of HWSFD taking shape.

🛠️ Compliance & Equipment
We’ve completed all of our annual compliance checks on our equipment, and our personnel are staying up to date with the latest training and certifications. Safety and readiness are always our top priorities! We’re also preparing for Live Fire Training on November 1st, where our team will put their skills to the test in a real-life training environment.

🎉 Community Engagement
We’ve had a blast staying involved in the community, from our golf tournament and our Harwinton Fair food booth to spending time with students at HCS during fire prevention week.

We were lucky to have beautiful weather and even better company! A huge thank you to all of our dedicated members for your hard work, and to everyone who stopped by—whether you grabbed some food or just came to say hello, we appreciate you!

On Sunday September 28, at 0053hrs HWSFD was dispatched as part of a 3rd alarm factory fire. Engine 12 was requested to standby at TFD HQ for city coverage and Utility 6 was requested to respond to the scene for air and rehab. Engine 12 was later joined by Rescue 7 and both units were dispatched to a car vs. house collision on Patterson Street. After clearing the car vs. House with no injuries and moderate structural damage Engine 12 was reassigned to cover the Torrington North End station. HWSFD units were released at approximately 0647hrs. HWSFD Engine 12 was then called to return to the scene at 1200hrs to feed North Canaan ladder 1 during final extinguishment operations.
