Aside from a few “whole house” rentals, it’s been over a year since we had our last B&B guest inside the house thanks to Covid-19. We hope someday this will be merely a blip on everyone’s fb page.
Between our empty rooms and this cold weather, we miss the heartwarming feeling of welcoming visitors into our old family home. We are currently feeling ready to skip right past spring and into the hot sunny days of July.
This morning I woke to see a Great Blue Heron standing on our bank. I went out to take a few pictures of our (hopefully) last snow of the season, and I can now warn you from experience... be careful out there... it’s slippery.

As I loaded the dishwasher afterwards, I found myself humming a Rocky theme song, Eye of the Tiger. It occurred to me I’m on top of my game this morning… right up until I caught myself loading a fresh egg into the dishwasher.

Last night we were talking about the weather channel filming of “The legend of the Gray Man” right here at Bayfields a few years ago. The entire movie is available online now. They used nearly every room in the house, shot at different angles and staged differently so it looked like different homes at different times. As you watch, it’s hard to recognize some of the rooms at first. I like that it shows some family artwork.
