Sheriff's Office Seeking Information on Body Located in Mississippi River

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about Timothy Bryan Standish Jr., 40, who was found deceased in the Mississippi River near Inver Grove Heights on August 14th.

Timothy was known to have resided in the Stevens Square neighborhood in the Minneapolis area. Detectives are asking anyone who knew Timothy or has information about his friends, associates, or recent activities to come forward.

Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation and out of respect for Timothy and his loved ones, additional details about the circumstances of the death are not being released at this time.

Day 4 at the Dakota County Fair featured our Parks, Lakes and Trails Unit, Dive Team, and Building Security and Courts Unit! Fairgoers got an up-close look at our ATVs, equipment and some of the many ways we serve Dakota County.

Back like we never left! Sheriff Leko and Deputy Dan kicked off the Dakota County Fair on a beautiful opening day. The fair is one of our favorite traditions and one of the best opportunities to connect with the community we’re proud to serve.

Sheriff Leko will be at the fair each day, so stop by our booth and say hello! And a big thank you to all our the deputies working throughout the week to help keep the fair safe and enjoyable for everyone!

Yesterday we wrapped up a busy week of community engagement at Celebrate Empire, one of the city’s biggest events of the year. From apple cider slushies to K9 demonstrations, we're always grateful to spend time with community.

Missing Man Located Deceased Following Extensive Search

Hastings, Minn– On August 4, following extensive ground and water search efforts, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office located Michael William Robinson, 77, deceased downstream of his boat.

“This is not the outcome any of us had hoped for. Our hearts are with Michael’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” said Sheriff Joe Leko.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Drone Team, Dakota County Special Operations Team, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Northstar Search and Rescue for their assistance throughout the search.

Preliminary findings indicate that the circumstances surrounding his death are not suspicious. The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information will be released at this time.
