Another round of showers and storms can be expected this afternoon and evening, with the best coverage across the southern Mountains into the southeast Plains. A few of the stronger storms could produce strong wind gusts to 60 mph and hail to the size of quarters.

🚨🚨🚨 Severe Thunderstorm Warning 🚨🚨🚨 Expires at 6:45 p.m. for our area. Please stay tuned to local media for the latest watches and warnings and take appropriate action as this is a fast-moving storm capable of 70 mph winds and up to ping pong ball sized hail.

Stay weather aware this afternoon and evening.

Abundant monsoonal moisture and an embedded weather disturbance will bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to south central and southeast Colorado today. Storms will be capable of producing heavy rain in short amount of time, leading to the potential for flash flooding. Storms producing hail to the size of quarters and strong wind gusty to near 60 mph will also be possible, especially across the southeast plains.

Edit: Power restored as of 6:15 p.m.

We are currently experiencing an area wide power outage. We are hearing it is from the Holly area to at least Las Animas. No estimated time for when service will be restored. If you have friends or family dependent on power for life or health please check on them.

Another active day anticipated across the region today, with the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening. The strongest storms are expected to develop east of the I-25 Corridor, with the main threats being large hail and damaging wind gusts. Further west along the eastern mountains, storms will need to be monitored for periods of moderate to heavy rainfall that could once again produce flash flooding over area burn scars.

🚨🚨🚨 A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for northeastern Bent County until 11:30 tonight. Between 1 and 1/2 and 2 inches of rain have fallen in the warned area with another 1 to 1.5 inches expected to fall. Turn around don't drown. Avoid low-lying areas and use caution. Use caution on Hwy 196 East of McClave. Water is currently in the west bound lanes between county roads 33 and 34.

🚨🚨🚨 Public Service Announcement🚨🚨🚨

The electricity at the Hasty Post Office has been restored. The Hasty Post Office will now resume normal business operations. All Hasty mail has been brought back over from McClave. As a reminder Hasty Post office hours of operation are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the outage!!!

Tonight's training was on extrication equipment and its uses as well as our rescue airbag system. Utilizing hands-on training helps it all make sense. In the near future we will be cutting up a vehicle to further this training.
