Join us tomorrow, October 15th at 6:30pm for our next history presentation of the Celebrating 250 Years of America Series, "The Battlefield Is No Place for a Woman," with Trish Troilo portraying Clara Barton.

The War Between the States was a contentious time in our nation’s history. Pitting family against family; brother against brother the battles fought were some of the cruelest ever seen. Throughout, Clara Barton fought her own battles. Filled with a sense of patriotic duty, she struggled to find her place within this conflict. Desperate to relieve the suffering she saw, she went to the front, providing supplies and, most importantly, comfort to the soldiers. Seeming to appear out of nowhere whenever it was most needed, she earned the nickname “The Angel of the Battlefield”. Her eyewitness accounts of the Civil War forever changed the perception of war and its horrible consequences.

Gather ‘round, y’all - we’re celebrating Dolly Parton, the country-western diva, genius songwriter, trendsetter, philanthropist, artist, and most charismatic woman in the business. After spending almost a year living and performing in Dolly’s hometown of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Maggie is a forever fan. We’ll sing the favorites that’ll always live with Dolly in our hearts, like 9 to 5, Jolene, and I Will Always Love You. Along with her unforgettable tunes and timeless lyrics, you can tap your toes, clap along - even get up and dance - to hits she covered, like Harper Valley PTA, House of the Rising Sun, and Mule Skinner Blues (Blue Yodel No.8). We’ll also honor a few other country greats, like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Hank Williams. You’ll be hootin’ and hollerin’ for all things country, but especially as we pay homage to THE Dolly Parton!

Our next Writers Connection will be this Saturday, October 10th from 12-2pm. This month's Writers Connection is a pages focus. The first four writers to submit two pages (maximum of 500 words, double-spaced) will get the group critique. Pages must be submitted to [email protected] by 12 noon tomorrow, Friday October 9th in a Word format. Include your name and title in the header.

Join us tonight at 6pm for a candid conversation on substance use disorder and important ways to support someone who is considering treatment. This will be presented by Steve Forzato, Director of the Saint Joseph's University Center for Addiction and Recovery Education.
Attendees can expect to:
-Learn, in simple terms, how addiction takes hold in the brain
-Develop skills to motivate loved ones to consider sobriety
-Understand the Recovery Oriented System of Care and how to access treatment resources in Montgomery County
