The battle between development and preservation rages on and Hatfield Borough is not immune. People want to see thriving downtowns and have some chance at affordable decent housing. Does that mean Borough Council should bend over backwards for builders? No. From the comments on this originals post you can see people also want to retain the character of their town. The issue is balancing historical preservation with the need for updated infrastructure while acknowledging the limited power of local government within the specifics of the local economy. We need all the help we can get, but not at any price.
Go to Council meetings yourself and see if you think this is back room dealings or just a town navigating a difficult situation the best way they can.
