Yesterday, Leadership Pinebelt Class of 2026 had the incredible opportunity to explore Hattiesburg's Healthcare landscape!

They began their day hearing valuable insights from Jeff Cook, CEO of Forrest Health, Dr. Duncan Donald of Forrest Health, and Kristy Gould of Hattiesburg Clinic.

From there, the group toured the Childrens Center for Communications and Development, led by Director Sara Myers and her team, as well as the DuBard School for Language Disorders with Dr. Alison Webster and her team.

The class then headed over to Merit Health Wesley where they got hands on experience with the da Vinci Surgical System. Last but not least, the class got to hear from CEO, Travis Sisson and Dr. Italo Subbarao, Dean of William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This engaging session provided a meaningful look into the vital role healthcare plays in our community and helped deepen our understanding of the resources and leaders shaping our region. A big thank you to all who were involved!

Today, we had the privilege of hearing from the Leadership Pinebelt Class of 2026 as they presented their group projects at our June Accelerate. Each group put in tremendous effort to identify meaningful ways to strengthen our community and confidently pitched their ideas to an audience of over 180 attendees.

One group, "Oh, Baby! Buckle Up." focused on making car seats more accessible, while another group, "Impact After the Bell" expanded on childcare support for parents. Lastly, the third group created "Fresh Access Program" which focused on providing opportunities for high school students in need to access clean clothing. These impactful projects demonstrate a deep commitment to serving others and addressing real challenges in the Pine Belt area.

We are incredibly honored to have learned from these emerging leaders and are excited to see the lasting difference their work will make in our community.
