We are excited to offer yet another unique adult program - this time for our Petal branch!

Come paint with us at the Petal Library! The Art Cottage - Petal, MS will bring custom canvases and we will paint while we enjoy mockmosas and muffins. No experience necessary - just bring your imagination! Enjoy a relaxed morning of painting, refreshments, and fun at the library on Saturday, September 19th at 11am. All materials provided!

Reservations are required as spots are limited. To reserve your spot, email Brittany Tibbett at [email protected].

This is an adult program, but teens are also welcome.

We were proud to host the kickoff of the 2026 Evelyn Gandy Leadership Academy for Young Women! This six-session program empowers young women in the Hattiesburg community to embrace their leadership potential, build confidence, and become more engaged in their community.

NEW ACHIEVEMENT! Successful Dungeon Crawler Carl Trivia Night!

Thank you to all the crawlers who attended the Library's DCC trivia night and thank you to for hosting! We still can't believe over 70 people entered the dungeon!

Here's a sneak peek of some of the prizes up for grabs at the Library's Dungeon Crawler Carl Trivia Night tomorrow!

The Library cooked up some tasty treats last week during our first adult cooking class with Mississippi State University Extension Service!

Our participants learned about substituting ground turkey and made turkey burger macaroni, and for dessert we made yogurt parfaits with Greek yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, and oats and honey granola.

Early Closing – Wednesday, August 19

The Library will close to the public at 11:00 AM tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19, due to two major technology upgrades taking place and will reopen for normal hours Thursday.

Our computer labs will be unavailable for most of the day while network upgrades are completed. Beginning at 11:00 AM, our library circulation system will also be unavailable while its server is migrated, preventing staff from checking materials in or out or accessing patron accounts.

Because these upgrades will significantly limit the services we can provide and require crews to work throughout the library, both the Hattiesburg and Petal Libraries will close at 11:00 AM. This will give the crews the space they need to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.

Storytime at Hattiesburg will still take place at 10:00 AM as scheduled. We encourage patrons to visit us between 8:00 and 11:00 AM for checkouts or any other library business you may need to take care of before we close.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete these important technology improvements.
