Friends of University Libraries

The Friends of the University Libraries is an organization providing support for the research, teaching, and public service missions of the University of Southern Mississippi Libraries. In addition to supporting the services, facilities, and activities of the libraries, the Friends encourage financial contributions in the form of gifts, endowments, and bequests as well as solicit donations of materials for the libraries' collections. The Friends also support the library and encourage community involvement through the sponsorship of educational and cultural events such as visits with authors, hosting exhibits, and book signings. Members receive invitations to these events as well as copies of all University Libraries publications. Members also have access to the resources of the University Libraries in accord with library policy and may check out circulating materials. Membership is renewable on an annual basis. In addition to sponsored events and programs, there is an annual meeting of the Friends of University Libraries for the purpose of electing officers, hosting exhibits, receiving annual reports, and any other business that may arise.
