At approximately 1:24 PM on June 29, 2026, crews were dispatched to the 25-mile marker of Interstate 64 for a reported motor vehicle fire involving a tractor-trailer.

The vehicle was occupied by one individual, who was able to safely self-extricate prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Despite the extreme heat, firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished it. We would like to extend a special thank you to our neighbors at the Vanderburgh County Fire Department for their assistance with the knockdown and extinguishment of the fire.

The Haubstadt Fire Territory Race Track Safety Team, alongside the Tri-State Speedway Safety Team, attended specialized training Thursday evening focused on sprint car driver extrication. Members had the opportunity to work hands on while practicing the safe and rapid removal of injured drivers from non-wing sprint cars during incident scenarios.
Throughout the evening, crews reviewed vehicle components and refined techniques in a controlled, low-stress environment. Training like this is invaluable in helping responders build familiarity with the cars and improve readiness should an emergency arise during live racing conditions.
