Today, Officer Edmonds and Officer Lilly had the opportunity to visit with ECA’s first graders as they learn about community helpers! 🚓💙

They spoke with the students about what police officers do each day, how they help keep our community safe, and what it means to serve others.

We always enjoy the opportunity to spend time with our youngest community members and answer all of their questions. Thank you for having us!

Tre’von has been captured.

TRE'VEON JACKSON CAPTURED IN TEXAS

Tre'veon Jackson, the inmate who escaped from a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office deputy while being transported from Oschner/ LSU Health Shreveport, has been captured in Texas, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

Earlier this evening, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force arrested Jackson in Marshall, Texas. He is currently being housed in the Harrison County Jail on federal charges.

Jackson, 24, escaped from the custody of a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office deputy around 10:15 p.m. outside Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, located at 1501 Kings Highway. Following his escape, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies collaborated to locate and apprehend him.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office thanks the U.S. Marshals Service and all law enforcement agencies involved for their efforts during the search and apprehension. The Sheriff's Office also appreciates the public and media for swiftly disseminating Jackson's description and information.

More details about Jackson's arrest and return to Caddo Parish, along with any additional charges, will be provided as they become available.

Today, Chief Gibson along with some of our officers, joined our friends at Galilee Baptist Church on their annual Walk-a-thon as well as a community back pack/school supply giveaway. We held prayer for our community before beginning our walk and enjoyed some great fellowship back at the church. At mid day, we were able to visit with more citizens, as many kids were gifted school supplies. Today was a great day, relaxing with some wonderful citizens!!

2026 HHS Homecoming Parade:

Date: Thursday 9/17

Time: 6:00 pm start

Roads close: 5:30 pm

High School parking lot will open at 3:45 for parade participants. The only vehicles allowed in the parking lot will be parade vehicles. Participants can park in the auxiliary parking lot across the street to drop off participants.

Parents, you will not be able to drive into the parking lot to drop your children off. The gravel lot across the street will be set up for drop-offs.

Throws: Be mindful of all No Throw Zone signs.

Trains will not stop for the parade. All drivers are responsible for ensuring their own safety and will assume all liability when crossing the tracks

Route:

Parade Route: Leave HHS at 6 pm, head towards Haughton grocery and cross RR tracks on N. Myrtle. Turn right on W. Jackson, proceed to LA-157 and turn right, cross RR tracks, and turn right on W. McKinley and proceed back to school.

CLOSURES: All roads remain open until the start of the parade EXCEPT: N. Hazel at W. Jefferson (Will close at 5:30 pm). Those coming to school after 5:30 must approach from LA -3227 and take N. Hazel to school. After 5:30 p, no traffic will be allowed to go to the school by any other route. This helps us control the flow of traffic.

Please pack plenty of water for all parade-goers and participants. It is going to be a hot one! We can't wait to celebrate the 57th homecoming parade this year!

🚔 DWI GRANT FINAL RESULTS 🚔

The Haughton Police Department has completed its latest DWI grant enforcement period. Officers worked additional hours to locate impaired drivers and help keep our roadways safe.

Final grant results:

• 64 enforcement hours worked
• 37 traffic stops conducted
• 17 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests conducted
• 6 DWI arrests made by officers working the grant
• 2 citations containing a total of 4 traffic violations

An additional DWI arrest was made during the enforcement wave by an officer working regular patrol, bringing the department’s total to 7 DWI arrests during the wave.

One of the 17 SFST investigations involved a person under the age of 21 who admitted to drinking at a concert. This serves as an important reminder for parents and young drivers that alcohol and driving are a dangerous combination at any age.

Nearly one out of every six grant traffic stops resulted in a DWI arrest.

The purpose of this grant was not simply to issue citations or make arrests. It was to prevent impaired drivers from injuring or killing themselves or someone else. It only takes one impaired driver to change multiple lives forever.

Make your plan before you take the first drink. Designate a sober driver, call a friend, or use a rideshare service. The cost of a ride home is nothing compared to the cost of a DWI, a serious injury, or a life.

The grant may be over, but DWI enforcement is not. Our officers will continue working to keep impaired drivers off our roadways.

This increased enforcement was made possible through grant funding provided by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

Drive sober or get pulled over.

UPDATE ON THE FAMILY IN THE 18 WHEELER:

I have been informed that the family has been gifted so many care items, food, clothes, etc., that they are overwhelmed from the love of this community. They have been moved to a hotel and are awaiting transportation back to their home state.

Thanks to everyone that helped someone in need. This family has been through a lot lately and are very thankful for all of your generosity!!! Thanks again to our wonderful community!!!

🚔 DWI GRANT UPDATE 🚔

Officers have worked three days of DWI grant enforcement so far, and the results are concerning.

Within the first two hours of each grant shift, officers have made a DWI arrest.

Three shifts. Three DWI arrests.

One driver from Haughton and two drivers from Doyline have been arrested for DWI.

The purpose of this enforcement is not to see how many arrests can be made. It is to prevent an impaired driver from injuring or killing themselves or someone else.

A first-offense DWI conviction in Louisiana can result in:

• A fine of $300 to $1,000
• Ten days to six months in jail
• A one-year driver’s license suspension
• At least 48 hours in jail or 32 hours of court-approved community service as a condition of probation
• Court-approved substance abuse and driver improvement programs
• Ignition interlock requirements and additional expenses

Those penalties do not include court costs, attorney fees, towing expenses, increased insurance premiums, missed work, or the lifelong consequences of injuring or killing someone.

Make your plan before you take the first drink. Once you are impaired, it may already be too late to make a good decision.

Call a friend, designate a sober driver, or use a rideshare service. The cost of a ride home is nothing compared to the cost of a DWI.

Officers will continue conducting DWI grant enforcement. If you drink, do not drive.
