🎒🚌 Tomorrow is the first day of school!🎒🚌

Before the morning rush, take 10 minutes tonight to review this checklist with your family. Make sure your children understand their after-school rules, know how and when to call 911, can say their home address, and remember how to stay safe around school buses and roadways.

A safer school year starts at home. Save this checklist, share it with another family, and practice together!

Over the past two days, our A Shift and C Shift crews joined our training division to complete our annual live fire training scenarios. Live fire training provides some of the most realistic training opportunities available, allowing firefighters to reinforce critical firefighting skills that are not routinely performed on everyday incidents while operating in a controlled environment.

These evolutions also gave our members the opportunity to evaluate and train with new equipment, ensuring they are proficient with the tools they may depend on during emergency responses.

At Bossier Parish Fire District #1, we are committed to continuous training because preparation is the foundation of effective emergency response. The time spent training today helps ensure we are ready to provide the highest level of service to our community when seconds matter.

🥵 123° Heat Index Today… That’s Not Just Hot—That’s Dangerous! ☀️🔥

If you step outside today and feel like you’re walking into an oven… you’re not imagining it. Today’s heat index is expected to reach 123°, and those temperatures can become dangerous in a matter of minutes.

A few simple steps can help keep you and your family safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
👶🐶 Check on children, older adults, neighbors, and pets.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute.

🚒 Our firefighters will be working in these extreme conditions today, so if you see crews operating, please give them plenty of room and remember they’re battling the same dangerous heat while serving our community.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.
