🌊 This Weekend’s Weather: What We Know and How to Prepare

What We Know
A coastal storm is expected to impact our area from Sunday into Monday.

Strong, damaging winds are possible across eastern Long Island beginning Sunday afternoon through Sunday night.
Coastal flooding is likely along the shoreline during high tide cycles Sunday into Monday, with potential for localized major flooding along the South Shore back bays.
Beach erosion and rough surf are also expected.
Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall are possible, mainly near the coast, leading to minor poor-drainage flooding.
How to Prepare

Secure or bring in outdoor Halloween and Fall decorations.
Clear loose debris around your property to prevent wind hazards.
Ensure vehicles are fueled or EVs fully charged in case of power outages.
Use caution when traveling near coastal areas and avoid flooded roadways.

Follow Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services for more storm updates throughout the weekend.

🚨Shredding Event🚨

The Smithtown Library, Legislator Leslie Kennedy's office and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office invite you to finish your fall decluttering in the Smithtown Library Main Building parking lot. Storage Quarters will provide shredding of personal papers and documents, E-waste removal will be provided by E-Green Recycling and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office will host Shed the Meds proper prescription drug disposal.
