Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society - Cherry Point We’re a volunteer-centered nonprofit which offers emergency financial and educational aid to active-duty and retired Marines, Sailors and their families.

NMCRS provides emergency financial assistance to eligible recipients in the form of:

• Interest-free loans or grants to deal with emergency needs
• Education loans and grants
• Lifetime benefits information assistance
• Money Management
• Budget for Baby Workshops
• Thrift Shops
• Visiting Nurse Services

It's time for Volunteer(s) of the month! March's Volunteers of the Month are Glenn and Janae Lyman. Glenn and Janae began volunteering with NMCRS in 2025 and quickly embraced military life. They help service members check in and out of units, set up appointments, and answer questions with care. Janae also crochets blankets for our Budget for Baby® classes. Beyond NMCRS, they both serve at the base chapel. Thank you, Glenn and Janae, for your dedication to our military community! 🍀

Happy 🎉

Joan, a retired CPA, has been volunteering with NMCRS for over five years. She’s worn many hats during that time — from blanket maker to caseworker to helping out with client services. Joan is incredibly knowledgeable and loves helping service members with budgeting and financial assistance. When she’s not volunteering, you can usually find her sailing her boat or helping rescue animals in the area. We’re so grateful for her continued dedication and the heart she brings to MCAS Cherry Point!

In February 1943, the Marine Corps Women's Reserve was officially established—marking a historic moment as women were formally welcomed into the Marine Corps to serve in non-combat roles during World War II.

These trailblazing women took on over 200 different military occupations, helping "Free a Marine to Fight" by filling critical positions at home. Their service paved the way for future generations of women in uniform.
