A great reminder from our partners at HFD please help us help you! If we cant easily see the numbers it may delay us being able to help in a critical situation.

Fire and EMS personnel often find it difficult to locate an address that has improperly posted address house numbers. Here is information that you can use to help us locate your home or business in the event of an emergency.

Saturdays thought of the day, who is it that’s the most forgotten in the emergency field? Who is it that is the first to offer aid in your time of need?
You see the ambulance. You see the tech.
You see the firetruck. You see the firefighter
You see the police car. You see the cop.

So who is the person who’s forgotten way to often?

I’m talking about our dispatchers. The voice on the phone, the ones who get the help to you in your time of need.
What a lot don’t realize is the extent of what they do. They might be couching someone through doing CPR or stopping life threatening bleeding and at the same time helping to walk someone through labor pains and having to answer a call for someone who had a hang nail and needs a bandaid( yes this actually happens).

Our voice in the box, our guardian angels, the voices first responders everywhere love and hate, we get annoyed with them and are incredibly thankful for them. They are the people we can trust are there when our community need them, and when we need them. They do so much more than just answering phones, it’s getting advanced information so they can send us to the proper location, with the proper resources, they help save lives by walking people through life saving skills, at the same time they are guiding crews in, keeping time logs, and monitoring multiple radios, units and phones. The biggest thing that is forgetting is that us in the field may see some things that might stick with us after the call. We are there able to attempt to help. Our incredible team at dispatch, they hear it all, they are miles away and can only talk through it and send help.

From us at Haven, to all our dispatchers, telecommunications, county 911 operators, what ever the chosen title, we see you, we thank you, and we stand with you. Your job is critical and you’re doing the hard work to help us do our job. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do our job. This is one family and we won’t forget you are a part of that. THANK YOU!!

Thought of the day for this fine Tuesday, here at Haven EMS, we are beyond blessed to have the ability to work side by side with some incredible folks that make it possible for us to do our jobs and help us help our community that much more. Today I want to say thank you to all of those people, you made the choice to do these jobs and help our community and a lot of you don’t even get paid to do so. We see you and appreciate you. On scene we may not always get to say how much we appreciate you showing up or your help but it is always valued. So, thank you to our incredible partners.
Some of the folks we regularly work beside.
Reno Co EMS, Reno County Sheriffs Department, Haven PD, Kansas Highway Patrol, Wildlife and parks, Reno county Fire districts 8 & 9 and Cheney Fire department. Along with all other agencies that though less common to work beside, no less valuable.

This 4th for our 250th birthday here are your hours for those looking for them in haven.

As much as we love seeing everyone that we get to serve and talking with you all… we don’t want to meet this way, let’s please be safe this year! Do not hold fireworks, try to leave with the same number of fingers and toes as you arrived with. Do not look down over the top of a mortar tube or keg especially if it’s been used prior. There could still be a spark that causes an early discharge. Please do not try to relight one that has a short fuse. Monitor children and where fireworks are being set off.
Remember to soak all fireworks after use and do not put them directly into a trash can or back in your house or garage. This is a fire risk!
Please be safe, be smart and have fun!
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

As we roll into Memorial Day weekend we want to remember the reason for today and all that gave their lives protecting our nation and the freedoms we are able to enjoy.

We also would like to take a moment and remind folks that though many will be out having fun this weekend (like we did in preparation for this PSA) we would like to remind everyone of a few key safety notes.
•be sure to wear a life jacket while your on the water.
•be sure to be drinking plenty of water and electrolytes, especially if adult beverages are being drank as well!
• please do not operate vehicles or boats if you are partaking in adult beverages! This is a recipe for disaster.
• keep an eye on eachother and kids, make sure to monitor them around the water and the heat.
•be aware of where safety equipment is. Where is your first aid kid? Your life preservers? Your phone and ways to contact help?
• last but not least be sure to wear and reapply your sunscreen. Those sun burns can be brutal!

Have a safe Memorial Day! Let’s not meet in the official capacity. 😄
