DPW assists and promotes the economic development and sustainable growth of the city through maintenance

of City assets, the plan review process, mapping and related engineering services. Public Notification – Utility Improvements Work in Locke Street Area
The City of Haverhill would like to inform you of upcoming water utility improvements in the Locke Street area, starting next week. This work is part of the City’s commitment to improving and modernizing critical infrastructure and is funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). This portion of the project will include rehabilitating and replacing existing water mains on Locke Street, Union Street, Charles Street, and Union Street. Work will be completed during the daytime, generally between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Street parking will be limited on these streets during construction and portions of these roadways will likely be down to single lane traffic during these hours. Residents and business owners will always maintain full access to their properties. For questions or assistance during construction, please contact (978) 374-2382 or visit the city’s website, www.haverhillma.gov.

🚨 Water Main Break Alert – Hilldale Ave Area 🚨

The DPW is currently responding to a water main break near 100 Hilldale Ave. As a result, water service is temporarily shut down from Lafayette Square to Cathy Drive.

Repairs are underway, and the estimated restoration time is 8–10 hours.
We appreciate your patience while crews work as quickly and safely as possible to resolve the issue.

Haverhill Roadway Paving 8/10/26 - 8/21/26

This is the City of Haverhill Highway Department. Milling and paving will begin on Monday, August 10th and last until Friday August 21st weather permitting on Jordan Street, Coffin Avenue, Calewood Drive, and the intersection on Linwood Street on Groveland Street. Please do not park on those streets between 6am and 5pm. You may temporarily lose access to your driveway. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Do you know that you can recycle all of these products with your curbside collection on your recycling week? Our recycling center, located at 95 Downing Ave (behind the DPW Building), is also open to all residents for recycling on Wednesdays from 8-3 and Saturdays from 8-1.

If you're unsure what goes in the trash and what can be recycled, check out recyclesmartma.org to see where it goes.
